Our School vision is:

P = Participate. We want our children to Participate and for school Participate means Join In.
R = Respect. We want our children to show Respect and for our school Respect means Treat Others like you would like to be Treated.
I = Initiative. We want our children to show Initiative and for our children Initiative means Think for Yourself.
D = Determined. We want our children to be Determined and for our school Determined means Try Hard and Don’t Give Up.
E = Empathy. We want our children to show Empathy and for our school Empathy means Think of Others.

We made a change in 2021 to one of our PRIDE values.   The E is now Empathy and all the things we talked about and taught with regard to Excellence will come under the Determination banner.  Our PRIDE values have been part of our school environment for over 10 years and I believe this change is reflective of what we would like our children to be and the values they should have….so with Empathy it adds an extra layer to what are already strongly embedded values at our school.

At the end of 2015 I asked the Year 6 children to write the introduction for our  Charter and this is what they came up with as a group –
“Our school is all about our PRIDE values. Each letter in the word PRIDE stands for a different value, we think is important. We all display these letters in different ways; on the sports field, in the classroom and when we are in our community. These letters hold us and link us together as a family. We are determined to be better people and to do the very best we can at all times.
We are country kids, we are the hub, we are here and now, with a proud history behind us. We all have a part to play, a job to do and we do it with PRIDE.

We know that we can take these values with us when we leave our school and they will be with us forever, each of us helping make the world a kind and better place.”

In 2019 our Year 6 children were asked to write down the words that describe our school to them – these are shown in this Wordle.

I am proud to be the Principal of our school and it is an honour to be part of the Dunsandel School community. If you would like further information about our school please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Ngā mihi,
